چکیده

⎯An adaptive algorithm for removing false ridges, bridges and filling gaps in binary fingerprint images based on morphological operations is presented. A novel procedure for structuring elements design based on the specific fingerprint characteristic is described. Using the images from FVC2000 database, we have compared our method proposed here with the approach proposed by other ones. The Experimental results have demonstrated the efficiency of our method. Index Terms⎯Binary fingerprint image, interrupted ridges, morphological operation, structure element.

Fingerprint Image Enhancement Using a Binary Angular

In this paper, we explore a novel approach to enhancing fingerprint images using a new binary directional filter bank (DFB). Automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS) are used to classify a fingerprint in a large volume of images. Many approaches to AFIS have been suggested, most sharing in common the idea of extracting discriminate feature representations. As part of that process, th...

An Adaptive Approach to Singular Point Detection in Fingerprint Images

This paper presents a novel algorithm for detection of singular points, the core and delta points, in fingerprint images. The number and location of singular points, are used to classify fingerprint images in to five general groups; and therefore to narrow down the search space in large fingerprint databases. Using the proposed directional masks in the first step, detects the neighborhood of th...

INSTITUTO DE COMPUTAÇÃO UNIVERSIDADE ESTADUAL DE CAMPINAS Reconnection of fingerprint ridges based on morphological operators and multiscale directional information

In this paper, we introduce a multiscale operator which, together with some morphological tools, can be used to reconnect broken components of an image. This operator extracts the orientation field from the image components and can be applied to both binary and grayscale pictures. Although we illustrate its application in the fingerprint domain, the approach described here can be easily extende...
